On behalf of the members of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus, welcome to our website!
The Caucus has grown—not only in size—but in its diversity. Originally a group that primarily represented the Black population of New York City, the Caucus is now comprised of over seventy members representing millions of residents across New York State.
Since the first formal meeting of the caucus, dubbed the “Midnight Walk” of 1966, the Caucus has continued to use its membership to negotiate and advocate for communities of color. Now more than ever, this solidarity is important. From failing schools and limited economic options, to unhealthy environments, lack of access to healthcare and mental health services, as well as disinvestment and unstable housing, New Yorkers of color are demanding more from New York State.
We encourage you to explore our website and give us feedback. Our work to address the systemic issues that impact the Black, Latino, and Asian population depends upon your support. Thank you for your time and consideration.
