Caucus seeks to release an initial People’s Budget framework before the start of session
ALBANY, NY – The Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus, led by Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages (D-Elmont), is making preparations for the upcoming legislative session. The Caucus members are actively soliciting input from constituents, New York-based community organizations, and advocacy groups to shape the 2024 People’s Budget. This significant yearly document will outline the Caucus's fiscal priorities for the upcoming legislative session.
To encourage public engagement, the Caucus invites organizations to submit their spending priorities. The solicitation included a request for photos and personal testimonies to illustrate the real-world impact of the state budget on people's lives.
Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages, Chair of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus, highlighted the importance of community involvement: “During this post-session period, we are seizing the opportunity to rally our communities around shared policy objectives for the upcoming year. Through an earlier unveiling, the Caucus is well-positioned to influence the budget process and lead the conversation regarding the critical needs of Black, Latino, and Asian residents of New York. Our commitment remains resolute in creating an inclusive and collaborative document that yields tangible progress,"
