ALBANY, NY– “The members of the Caucus are outraged by the politically motivated indictment of Attorney General Letitia James. This move reeks of desperation, coming only after impartial career prosecutors had already declined to move the case forward for a complete lack of evidence. We wholeheartedly condemn this weaponization of the justice system. It is a direct assault on our democracy by an aspiring autocrat, designed to intimidate and silence those who hold power accountable. This is a grave moment for the American democratic experiment, and we call upon Congress to do its job, to act as a check on this abuse of power and defend the rule of law. Letitia James is and will remain the people's lawyer. New Yorkers will stand in solidarity with her every step of the way. This cannot stand.”
